FAQ for Volunteers

Here are some of the top frequently asked questions for people wanting to volunteer:

 

WHAT IS A SERVICE TEAM MEMBER?

A service team member is someone who needs to be

-Willing to serve

-Hard working

-A team player

-At least 16 years old

 

They also need to have

-a positive attitude towards the aims of the congress

-Be able to communicate in either english or german

 

WHEN DO I HAVE TO BE AVAILABLE?

The congress runs from the 8th-13th April, 2009 (Easter weekend). Unfortunately it is not possible to work for just one or two days, as service team members are asked to be available for the whole of the congress. Service team members should arrive on the 7th for the service team briefing. We also need people one week before the event to help in the set-up week, as well as people that can stay a day or two extra to help with clearing up. More details will follow shortly.

 

DO I HAVE TO PAY?

You will not have to pay the full registration fee, however you will need to pay a small contribution of 120 EUROS to cover expenses. You will also have to cover your travel expenses to the site at Oldenburg. As soon as we receive your service team registration form we will send you an invoice for the contribution fee.

 

HOW LONG WILL I WORK EACH DAY?

You will have to work between 8-9 hours each day. These hours may well be split up in two shifts of 4-5 hours. In your free time you are welcome to take part in the program activities.

 

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Your tasks depend on the working area you will be assigned to. You can indicate a preference for a particular area, however, we cannot guarantee that you can actually work in the area of your choice. We will have service team small group meetings as well where you will come together to share, pray, study and receive daily information.

 

WHERE DO I EAT AND SLEEP?

We will take care of your lodging and all your meals. You will be sleeping in the same dormitory style accomodation as the delegates. You can upgrade your accomodation to hotel accomodation if you would wish, and we can provide you with a list of hotels in the area.

 

WHAT IF I CANCEL MY REGISTRATION?

Cancellations received before 1st Feb will receive a full refund, however, if you cancel after that date, we regret that we cannot offer a refund of the fee. Please ensure that if you do need to cancel for any reason, that you do it in good time, in order that we can find replacements.

 

WHEN WILL I GET MORE INFORMATION?

Please make sure you sign up for the newsletters on this website, so you are informed of general developments with the congress. We will be sending you a stewards manual several months before the start of the congress. Training and further orientation will be given on the 7th April, 2009, the day before the congress starts.

 

HOW CAN I REGISTER?

To register just click on the link called service team volunteers, and fill out the online registration form. When you return the form, we will send you an invoice with the contribution fee. If you have further enquiries, you can contact us at info( at )mission-net.org.
